  • Beer Specials
  • Dog Friendly
  • Outdoor Patio
Park Tavern's mulitple events bring you all the joys of spring while still in the midst of a very grey winter. For out of towners who haven't been lucky enough to experience Park Tavern's many incredible draws, stop by and relish in the dog-friendly patio, the expansive view of Piedmont Park, the casual comfort of leather couches gathered around the inviting fire place and if it happens to be rainy day, don't be discouraged, Park Tavern has beer specials for such an occasion. The one & only Sir Paul McCartney is playing in Piedmont Park, Sat. Aug. 15th & since Park Tavern is handling the VIP Patron area, this is going to be an event to remember, or not.. depending on how many drink specials you try out.

Editorial Review for Park Tavern
Outdoor dining and a solid beer list complement a spectacular view overlooking Piedmont Park and the Atlanta skyline.

The Scene
Popular for alumni mixers, corporate happy hours and post-in-line skating cool-downs, this Midtown destination offers postcard views of Piedmont Park and the Midtown skyline. The spacious flagstone terrace is at the center of the action, attracting hordes of revelers during summer concerts and annual blow-out parties on St. Patrick's Day and New Year's Eve. During cooler months, crowds head inside to mingle and cozy up to the bar in the lodge-like dining room.

The Food
This busy restaurant features a familiar tavern menu built out with craft-brewed beer, such as the exceptional Park Trail Ale and the medium-bodied Olmsted Amber, named in honor of the park's designers. Buffalo wings, artichoke dip and brewery cheeseburgers are popular choices. Adventurous diners can sample the pecan-smoked barbecue--especially the ribs or the chicken.

Insider Tips
The Extras
The upstairs banquet hall, called the Piedmont Room, offers one of the city's best views for a party. It's also popular for wedding receptions.

  2. I love the PARK TAVERN!!!
Park Tavern has come a long way in the 10 years it's been in Atlanta. I started hanging out there when I was living in VaHi and always could count on great beer and fabulous people watching. I've seen amazing concerts there over the years, been to weddings that rivaled anything at a luxury hotel and have been pleased to see the quality of food & general atmoshphere grow along with my personal tastes. The entire restaurant is so pretty now-- they've redone the bathrooms in marble, the firelpaces are warm and cozy, I love the stone and wood beam feel. The landscaping is really nice and I hear they've done a lot of "green" things like putting in a cistern and solar panels. The SUSHI is HANDS DOWN- the BEST in the city. The sushi chef took the time to explain to me all about the fish--- which is flown in daily from Honolulu-- pretty darn fresh! Surprising to find such amazing sushi in a non-Japanese restaurant. In fact, Park Tavern does a great job breaking the mold on all "types" of genres. They're a superb brewery, fun cocktail spot, great for sports-watching & Wii gaming, beautiful for weddings and special events... what ISN'T Park Tavern??? It's a true gem in a city full of opportunities. You can literally find and do anything at Park Tavern! HIGHLY RECOMMMENDED!!! (mail, 11/15/2009)

  3. FANTASTIC FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE
The Park Tavern always does a great job hosting private events. Their attention to detail, staff and catering are terrific and they are wonderful to work with. My husband and I had our 40th Birthday Party there in the Piedmont Room and they transformed it into a beautiful 'cocktail lounge', served good, strong drinks and the backstage for the band was the Atlanta skyline..where else can you get that in town!?!? Our school's auction was held there last night and again, it was over the top! The venue was transformed into a swanky French lounge and the food was absolutely amazing! When just visiting and stopping in for fare and drinks, don't miss their sushi...it is definitely some of the best in town! Very innovative and fresh, fresh, fresh! (ACHolmes, 11/14/2009)

  4. BEST SUSHI IN A-TOWN!
Done and done. Below is my post to all the major sites: WOW!!! Absolutely outstanding is about the best way I can describe my Sunday night experience at Park Tavern. Always a good view, great company and oversized drinks, my most recent experience blew my socks off!!! Over dinner with friends, I savored some of the BEST sushi I've had in this city...Loved the Tuna that was imported fresh from Hawaii and the Kobe roll is to DIE for. My first love has now grown even deeper with the level of service, quality of drink and food and overall stellar management. 5-stars baby!!! Can't wait to come back again! (The WB, 11/10/2009)

  6. WORST SERVICE/MGT EVER
i' ve been her several times. its inside piedmont park, very dog friendly and a great patio; which is the ONLY reason i had gone back. After my experience tonight (10/25/09) we will NEVER go back. The service has ALWAYS been horrible, the food never that great, and the tabs too high. Tonight, the Park Tavern proved to me what they REALLY have to offer. I dont know our servers name, since he never told us, but he seemed to be fine, UNTIL, he started drinking and taking shots with the table next to us. After having a great time with them he forgot to bring us our friends credit card back as well as forgetting to bring us the drinks we had ordered. I confronted the "manager" Chris about this, and he had little to say as well, other than "i'll look into it and get back to you". Needless to say he never did, and after waiting about another hour we were able to get our check and leave. we didnt leave a very good tip since...well...it wasnt earned. (one of us is a server...so this is NOT standard practice for us!). the server hovered over the table while we were getting our money out (which was the most attentive he had been all night) and when seeing what kind of tip we were giving him (6 on a 70 tab) he followed us to the stairs and was eager to say "have a great night ... punk a##$@" i went back in to confront this "manager" WHO put me in a position to confront the server myself. very awkward and they did NOTHING about the situation other than tell me he would play back his cameras and handle it from there. in summary, STAY AWAY from park tavern. there are lots of cool places in atlanta, with much better food, and better spaces that will provide better service. dont waist your money...you will be disappointed. 8. Service Bad!! Everytime
I have been to park tavern several times to meet friends. Literally, every time I have been I have had to wait forever for drinks and food. One more than one occasion I have actually informed the waiter that I was leaving because of this. Once, they even brought our food and we all left after over an hour wait. and this was not on a "holiday" or "party" afternoon. regular night, not crowded. The only reason to go to this hot spot is if you are meeting ffriends and they insist. (atlactor, 07/13/2009)

  10. Great Patio - Bad Service
I have been here several times. The last was on April 25th. We had a great table outside overlooking the park. The food was good. It's upscale bar food with a few very nice entree items. The service however was horrible. It's not that it took a long time to be served, it's just that the order at each stage was wrong. I would normally be tempted to blame this on the kitchen, but in case I feel certain it was the server. Instead of simply writing down the order the server tried to memorize our order. At every step--drinks, salads and entrees the order came out wrong. (DennisnAtlanta, 05/02/2009)

I love Park Tavern. It's the best place for patio dining, hands down. Overlooking Piedmont Park and the skyscrapers of Mid-town and downtown. I love hanging out on weekends after playing in the park. Food is casual and consistently good.. very diverse menu. The beer is made on-site and really good.. love the Piedmont Porter- especially this time of year. When the weather's cold, the indoor dining is cozy... the furniture is comfy leather and the rooms are lodgy- feeling. Lots of fireplaces and craftsman metalwork. The staff is really cool-- I've always had great service... ask for Heather or Natalie. Can't wait for the Summer concert series to come back in May!!! I'll definitely be there for the New Year's Eve party.. the best (and best value) in the city! (angiefun, 12/14/2008)

  24. Great addition to the Atlanta Restaurant scene!
We went with our group this past weekend and had the most incredible time ever. We were there for my friends' 23rd birthday party and the staff set-up our table in record time and proceeded to shower us with fun. They even stored our cake and brought it back with birthday candles and glass plates and a cake-cutting knife! A wedding was going on in the tent and we were treated to the sounds of a great wedding band next to us. We all were in agreement that the Park Tavern is a wonderful addition to the Atlanta restaurant scene. (oh when it rained they started the dollar drafts and we stayed all night saving us over $100 on our bar tab!) Even the manager was the sweetest guy and maybe one of my friends has a crush on him! We will all be back tommorrow! (francisgerard, 05/29/2008)

  25. cozy & when it rains they pour by Shauna V. at InsiderPages
It isn't my favorite place, but it's in a great spot. One day it was raining in the park so my friend rahsaan and I decided to head inside to not get wet. We sat near the fireplace to dry off, and then decided to sit at the bar for a minute till it calmed down. To our surprise the friendly bartender said, when it rains, we pour one-dollar draft beer FANTASTIC! it was a great way to pass the rainy time. I had two beers for a buck, and they were great too. They have a brewery on site that we looked around at. The atmosphere isn't what i would normally choose, but it wasn't bad, and the staff was very nice, even to a couple soaking wet buddies off the street. I read some of the reviews about how it must be the restaurants fault that someone had their car broken into... what idiot leaves something valuable in their car in any city street and then blames someone else when they get popped? Not to go off on a tangent, but I hate those kind of people, because that's what is starting to make atlanta so boring... the gentrified neighborhoods, and cookie-cutter condo lifestyle that's been infesting cool atlanta neighborhoods. They create those places so the terrified suburbanites will feel more comfortable and want to move back downtown.... I wish they would just stay in Cobb county and stop putting up such a fuss for something that was their fault anyhow. (Citysearch User, 05/21/2008)

  26. Rude Bartenders and Manager
A group of us went to Park Tavern last Saturday for "When it rains, we pour- $1 drafts".... little did we know, it doesn't really exist. After the bartenders were rude, telling us it "hadn't rained long enough"- even though all of the tables from outside had moved inside because of the downpour- the Manager proceeded to continue the rudeness. I approached the Manager and asked why there weren't $1 draft beers, since that is what a group of us came for, he proceeded to tell me that 1) they were crowded 2) it was up to his discretion when and IF he wants to give $1 beers. The Manager stated that on the website there is a disclaimer that it is up to his discretion if he would like to have his ever-standing promotion or not. The website does have a disclaimer, but it states more than 1/4 inch of rain, which was definatley surpassed on Saturday. Needlesstosay, we did not get $1 drafts and we will not be going back to Park Tavern again. Poor service, rude staff- for a great location I'd suggest Quattro on the other side of the park, better food and service. (deanking, 04/29/2008)

  28. 21st Birthday Nightmare
I highly suggest that you do not go to Park Tavern for dinner for these reasons: 1.) Rude Waiters: The waiters were absolutely rude and took an extremely long time to bring the drinks. It was my girlfriend's 21st birthday and people had a lot of drink requests to buy for her. Unfortunately those orders never went through because the waiters were gone 90% of the time. I ordered a sweet tea and did not even have a re-fill. 2.) Slow checks: I waited nearly 45 minutes to get my check from the waiter. Once it arrived I gave him the check back and waited nearly another 30 minutes to get the change back. 3.) Lack of security in the area: As we were leaving, our close friends had their car broken into and their GPS device stolen. The security guards drove up and down the parking lot and did not see the man. The area is poorly lit and the fence separating the park and the parking lot is nearly non-existent. So the man who stole the GPS smashed the window and ran off into the park. When Atlanta PD was contacted we were placed on hold and 4 phone calls to get a unit to come out. A unit came out but was for a fist fight that occurred in front of the tavern. If the 3 reasons listed is what you call a great evening then this place is certainly for you. However for us, that was the first and LAST time we will ever go back to Park Tavern. (wgmann03, 04/19/2008)

  41. Go for the view. Leave for the food.
Park Tavern is an enigma stuffed with an overcooked hamburger. The food is awful. The service is terrible. They can't mix a drink to save their lives. But the location and view are second to none. And that's about the only appeal it has. Well, to be fair, their house brews are okay, too. We often go here with our dog after a walk in the park, and always leave disappointed. Park Tavern is a wonderful beer garden in the middle of a very bad restaurant. (chiefdcjs, 04/14/2007)

  42. not impressed, but it has a park view
This place is a bit overrated. Although it has a view of the park, sometimes the crowds and lack of servers makes it somewhat uncomfortable. If you get a bad mix of dogs, it's also not so much fun. People-watching is good, since you get a mix of everything - the funny ones are the wanna-bes trying to be more than they are and dressing 'chic' in what is essentially a dog-park. The wait (on weekends) is long, the food is mediocre at best, and the mixed drinks are watered down. Nothing that great about this place, but it's near a park. (elle150, 01/12/2007)

The folks at Park Tavern will do anything I like!!!! Last week I had dinner with some girlfriends and I asked my server, Hector, if I could order "Surf and Turf". Hector told me I could order ANYTHING I LIKE!!!!! What a great attitude for a server to have! I was just joking with him but we decided to add some grilled shrimp to my steak order and it was divine! If you ask me, I think the food and service is excellent. And, the final bill fit my budget! What more could I ask for? As we experienced a beautiful sunset, the girls and I were in agreement that we would have to make this outing a monthly event. Hector made it extra special as he learned all of our names and called us by them. You know, it is sweet music to hear your name called so kindly. We're going to ask for Hector next time! 47. great view, great staff
Park Tavern has always been one of my favorite hangout spots but I recently attending a wedding in the Piedmont Room. The food was excellent, the staff was incredibly accommodating and the view of the park and skyline was incredible. The restaurant staff has always been great but I had no idea that the Park Tavern hosted such excellent events as well. (lmckenzie, 10/19/2006)

  48. Pretty venue, bad customer service
I recently went to the Piedmont Room to see if I wanted to have my wedding there. I was impressed with the view and the room. However, when I contacted the coordinator there, my offers to negotiate a deal were rudely rebuffed, and I was treated like a virtual idiot for even daring to negotiate anything. The view is nice but I felt it was NOT worth working with a person who acted like they were doing me a favor by letting me even think about having my wedding there. Also, while there, we tried two of the different brews of beer offered by Park Tavern, and both were disgusting. I have spoken with other people who had the same experience and decided not to have their event there for the same reasons. RUDE! (apark111, 10/16/2006)

  49. Signature Atlanta location
What could be better than spending time on Park Tavern's patio as the sun goes down? The view of the Atlanta skyline across the splendor of Piedmont Park's rolling hills and beautiful trees is one of the best to behold, and you can enjoy it along with a great meal and a cold beer! Since moving to town, I haven't found a better spot to enjoy a nice meal with friends, and the staff is excellent. On one occasion, I even witnessed the general manager of Park Tavern dashing across the street to put out a fire in a school parking lot! Now that's community service! I recommend the Park Tavern to all my visiting friends, and I meet my family there when they come to see me. I really, really love it, and I think it's a real Atlanta landmark. -jch (sound_elevation, 10/06/2006)

  50. 10 Overall!
I am a regular at the Tavern and here's why: Great Beer, Tasty Food, fast & friendly service with a chilled out atmosphere and a great location. You can't beat their calender for popular local (and sometimes, not so local) musical talent during the summer, and it's one of the greatest people watching spots in town. The friendly, efficient (and good-looking!) staff keeps the place classy, yet neighborly. Order a beer that's brewed right upstairs (there's one for every taste!) and watch the game on their HD projection screen :-) I do it all the time... (mandabain, 10/01/2006)

  52. Homefries are not hashbrowns!
We went for Sunday brunch and were delighted to bring our dogs and sit outside. I ordered the twice baked quiche, which was good, and my boyfriend ordered and liked the breakfast burrito. The grits were quite good but steer clear of the "hashbrowns", which are actually homefries (cubed, not shredded) and appear to be just the frozen kind, not at all homemade. We liked that they had dog water bowls for our pets to drink but for us, the mimosa wasn't very good; I couldn't even taste the juice and it wasn't served in a champagne flute. I suspect the juice wasn't fresh as it had a grayish color and no pulp. I would like to order the "Tavern Benedict" next time but it contains farmed salmon so I will not. They should change it to wild salmon and up the quality of the dish. Overall, the food was decent; the wait time was long for our order but what can you expect for Sunday brunch. We liked the view so we will probably go again. (alaskat, 09/17/2006)

  53. Skyline view with great beer and service
I was at Park tavern last Sunday. It was awsome. The beer was good I had a sampler of all the beers and the wheat was my favorite but my friend liked the Pale ale. If you know anything about beers and micro brews, you need to try the beer there. If they had tee-shirts I would buy it. The service was great also the server knew about beers and directed me in the right direction. (Ask for Allison) What a great place to watch the sunset over the atlanta skyline and enjoy music, beer and friends. (lamals, 08/26/2006)

  54. Trail Mix
The view from the outdoor deck is wonderful. A beautiful park with a stretch of city skyline in the distance. The muzak was dreadful, totally destroying the ambience. I had the Park Trail Ale, which some reviewer described as "exceptional. It is. It tastes like it was brewed from pond scum, the worst beer I have ever experienced, and I have had beers all over this country and a few others. It was bitter, rank, and had the flavor of burnt rubber. Then the "meat falling off the bone" ribs. You want to taste these ribs? Boil some cardboard, pour bland barbecue sauce over it, and save yourself $19. If you have the bad luck to find yourself here on a sunny day order water or lemonade and enjoy the view. Quite a few other guests did. I guess they'd been here before. (charlesparis, 04/17/2006)

  55. Great!
Although I've only been there about 6 times, every time was exceptional. So exceptional, in fact, that my wife and I seriously discussed having our rehearsal dinner there. Food was always great, service was above average and a good time was had by all. Spectacular views and peoplewatching as well. I suggest sunset. (boldin, 12/05/2005)

  56. Don't count on the $1 drafts
Let me preface this by saying I think this place is decent overall. However, the whole dollar drafts thing is a complete myth. I've been there twice recently when it has been noticeably raining outside, and no dice on the dollar drafts. The time before that the dollar drafts were on for about 20 minutes while it was raining and that was it. Overall though the food is decent, the atmosphere is solid, and you obviously can't beat the view. Beer aficionados beware, the beer is flat out terrible. And it will give you the worst headache you've ever had in your entire life the next day. (_Chris79, 08/11/2005)
